10,000th Coordinate Measuring Machine Delivered By WENZEL

WENZEL Metrology has delivered its 10,000th coordinate measuring machine (CMM) ‘Made in Germany’ to the ZF Group. This marks another important milestone for the company and underlines the close partnership with ZF, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology.

Most Accurate LH 1210 CMM

The LH 1210 CMM supplied is the first machine of its size with the Premium Select accuracy of 1.2 µm + L/450 µm. This makes it the most accurate coordinate measuring machine that WENZEL has ever produced in this size. This exceptional accuracy helps ZF to ensure the highest precision and quality even for the most demanding components.

‍Another highlight is the integrated new roughness sensor system, which can be used on both the WENZEL LH series and the GT series (gear measuring machines). This enables ZF to flexibly and precisely measure a wide variety of components, whether cubic or rotationally symmetrical. The standard rotary table, which is perfectly integrated into the granite plate, further expands the machine’s application possibilities and makes it a genuine multi-coordinate measuring system.

‍WENZEL has also developed the LH 1210 in such a way that it is already prepared for future advancements in sensors technologies. This means that ZF can invest in the latest technologies in the long term without having to replace the hardware.

Single Source Measurement Technology

‍Another decisive factor for ZF was the compatibility of the measuring programs. The programs of the GT series gear measuring machines can be easily used on the LH series CMM and exchanged between different locations worldwide. This gives ZF maximum flexibility and enables optimum use of the machines in its global production networks.

‍ZF also selected Wenzel due to its unique ability to supply both hardware and software (LH series, GT series, WM measurement software | Quartis) from a single source. This complete solution offers decisive advantages in terms of efficiency, reliability and easy integration into existing production environments.

Machine Handover

The 10,000th coordinate measuring machine was ceremoniously handed over by the Wenzel management, Dr. Heike Wenzel and Prof. Dr. Heiko Wenzel-Schinzer, as well as the key account management team led by Björn Urland and Thomas Pfeiffer in the Wenzel final assembly department. As special recognition, a trophy made of granite, was presented which was accepted by Reinhard Höfling, Divisional Supplier Development at ZF.
